In craft circles, violin and bow making for example, copying is not regarded as plagiarism, it is in fact an homage to fellow craft workers, past and present and indicates that the item being copied represents a learning experience. Even the best and most experienced makers would occasionally copy the work of others to help gain an insight into their making techniques and possibly integrate positive ideas into their own work. This bow could easily have come from the Nurnberger workshop for instance but we can’t make that attribution because the work is so accurate that we will never know for sure.
